Packaging & Products

There's A Valve On My Coffee Packet, Why?

Freshly roasted coffee needs a little time to 'de-gas' before it is drinkable. This is due to carbon dioxide (CO2) build up, which occurs naturally during the roasting process.

In order to keep your coffee as fresh as possible whilst this happens, it needs to be bagged and protected from the 'elements' quickly . If left to de-gas out in the open, the beans would be stale due to the effects of Oxygen, light and moisture.

Cue the valve!

Being specifically designed for this purpose, the one-way valve lets the CO2 out without letting other gases in. So, whilst your coffee travels through the post to reach you, it actually benefits your beans as the gas has time to dissipate meaning your brew will taste better. Good things come to those who wait.

How Long Is My Coffee Fresh For?

Your coffee should stay fresh for up to 6 weeks for pre ground and 8 weeks for whole beans, when stored correctly.

In the interest of cutting down on household waste, its important to note that coffee doesn't 'go off' as such. It is still fully drinkable and enjoyable beyond these dates, however the freshness and flavours will no longer be at their peak.

What's The Difference Between Whole, Ground And Coffee Bags?

Whole Beans - For those who have a grinder at home. The beans are freshly roasted and supplied whole to be ground to your required size at home.

Ground Coffee - Freshly roasted and pre-ground for those who don't have a grinder at home. We supply four grind sizes, for more details on these please see our quick reference guide.

Coffee Bags - For those who want super quick and convenient coffee without the preparation hassle. These are tea bags but for coffee - throw one in your cup and add water - easy peasy.

Drip Coffee Bags - A step up from instant coffee bags but still very quick and easy. These are pre filled filter bags with freshly ground coffee and only require hot water to be added. This will drip through the filter for delicious coffee on the go. See how they work here.

What Effects The Strength Of Coffee?

The strength of your brew can depend on various factors.

Knowing what these are can help you achieve a better & more enjoyable cup.

These include:

The grind size used , The water to coffee ratio (or milk) , How much coffee grounds are used, Your brewing method & duration, Roast Profile of the beans used.

The best way to discover your preferences is to brew away! Find what works for you and enjoy trying all the delicious coffees along the way.

How Should My Coffee Be Stored?

Our packaging has been designed specifically to keep your coffee at its best for as long as possible.

Offering gas, light and moisture protection, the best place to store your coffee is in the bag provided.

We then recommend a cool, dark place and NOT the fridge (coffee is moisture & temperature sensitive).
